The Flood Needs and Early Recovery Assessment Report, Lao PDR
Following the devastating floods in Luang Namtha province, a joint Government and United Nations assessment team conducted a needs and early recovery assessment in October 2024. The Flood Needs and Early Recovery Assessment report provides a comprehensive analysis of the impact and needs across key clusters under the Inter-Agency Standing Committee mechanism: food security and agriculture, health and nutrition, WASH, education, protection, shelter, and early recovery. The assessment findings are based on data collected from village-level assessments, focus group discussions, and key informant interviews from two districts in Luang Namtha province. The report identifies residual humanitarian needs and early recovery priorities for affected communities and emphasizes coordinated recovery efforts to foster resilience development. The report ends with recommendations for actions by government agencies, humanitarian organizations, development partners, and other stakeholders.
