Purpose of the post:
The World Health Organization (WHO) Country Office in Lao PDR is looking to hire a national consultant to support the review and update of the National Multisectoral Action Plan for the Prevention and Control of Noncommunicable Diseases (LAOSMAP NCD), 2014-2020 and review, update and develop implementation plan for Lao PDR Package of Essential Noncommunicable Disease (LAO PEN) Intervention in Primary Care. The consultant requires to work with the international consultant, WHO Country Office and WHO Regional Office for the Western Pacific in coordinating and validating the LAOSMAP NCD and LAO PEN with Ministry of Health and other relevant ministries and development partners in Lao PDR.
Duration: January to April 2021
Description of Duties:
- Support the review and update the Lao Package of Essential Noncommunicable Disease Intervention (LAO PEN package) for Primary Care.
- Develop a practical implementation plan of the LAO PEN package.
- Support the review and update the Lao Multisectoral Action Plan on NCD (LAOSMAP NCD) for 2021-2030.
- Support for coordinating and organizing face-to-face consultation meetings with government stakeholders and development partners to gather data on NCD prevention, control and management for the update of the LAO PEN package and LAOSMAP NCD.
- Work with an international consultant in supporting the Ministry of Health, related ministries, development partners, WHO Country Office and WHO Regional Office for the Western Pacific to update the LAO PEN package and LAOSMAP NCD.
- Provide translation from Lao to English and English to Lao as needed.
Knowledge & skills:
Proficient in standard MS Office software applications
- Language requirements:
Written and spoken fluency in English (Read – Write – Speak / "Expert" level)
Education:
University degree in public health or medicine-related field from a recognized university
Desirable: medical degree
Experience:
Minimum of two years of work experience in public health, noncommunicable diseases, health systems or other related field.
Desirable: work experiences in NCDs, specifically related to implementation of WHO and LAO PEN packages.
Languages:
Written and spoken fluency in English (Read – Write – Speak / "Expert" level)
